Scary Leg Cramps At Night – How To Treat Leg Pain Cramps


Having those night leg cramps is annoying and sometimes scary. This is due to the leg pain that you feel whenever night falls. Nocturnal leg cramps are very common but is hard to diagnose. This happens when you feel tightness in the muscles in legs, calf and foot. As always, foot cramps, thigh cramps and leg cramps are very common.


When does night leg cramps pain happen? This happens while sleeping. It is usually the same as having symptoms of restless legs. Sleeping leg cramps are scary because one will suddenly wake up when the legs are having pain. Tightness feeling in legs is simply annoying and can ruin sleep. Calf muscle cramps are common the elderly and pregnant women. This is due to the muscle tension. Pregnancy leg cramps are common but those who are older, blame the leg pain cramps to age.

One cause of night leg cramps is poor blood circulation. This is the main cause for pregnant women because of the heavy tummy weight. On the other hand, middle aged people also experience leg cramps in the calves due to lack of lactose or vitamins.

How can we prevent leg cramps at night? It is recommended to have daily exercise of the legs especially in the morning. Moreover, electrolytes are helpful in treating frequent leg cramps.

If you have any calf cramps at night, leg muscle pain at night or night leg cramps, you should visit a docotr right away if the symptoms run for more than a week.
