Sinusitis could also affect the temple regions of the head. Although it is an inflammation of the sinuses, the pain could reach the sides of the head.

One more cause of temple pain is meningitis. This is the inflammation of the membranes that protect the brain. This is a serious disease because it involves bacterial or viral infections. If you have other nasty symptoms together with pain in the temple, consult a doctor.
